I've been working from home primarily for almost four years now (with some small breaks of going back to the office for a few months). I must say I experienced at one point or another all of these drawbacks from it. I must also say, I continue to choose remote roles for the flexibility they give me.

Awareness is the first step in solving the problem and all of these limitations can be resolved. Three changes I've introduced that have really helped are:

* time-blocking my calendar to allow for deep focus work by eliminating other distractions

* incorporating daily yoga practice and more physical exercise to negate the effects of working from home

* going to co-working spaces, whenever I need it (for emotional or even just purely social purposes)

Even with the limitations, remote work has been life-changing for me, both financially and from a personal freedom and control perspective.

Definitely a fan of knowing what you are getting yourself into before you start, though, so I think this discussion is very needed and valuable for other people, who are yet to take the plunge to going remote.
